Is Your Kidney Function Failing?

Chronic kidney disease occurs when a disease or condition impairs kidney function, causing kidney damage to worsen over several months or years. In the early stages of chronic kidney disease, you may have few signs or symptoms. Chronic kidney disease may not become apparent until your kidney function is significantly impaired.

Many factors that may increase your risk of chronic kidney disease include:

  • Diabetes is one of the biggest factors that increases your risk for kidney disease.

  • Blood pressure that is too high (hypertension) means your heart is working too hard to pump your blood. This can harm your body, including your kidneys.

  • Genetic predisposition, kidney disease that may run in the family.

  • People age 60 or older are also more likely to have diabetes and high blood pressure.

  •  Ethnicity. African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans and Asian Americans are more likely to have kidney disease.

  • Lifestyle. smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, and diabetes all harm the kidneys and can lead to chronic kidney disease, because as the arteries that feed blood to the kidneys narrow, the body produces renin, a hormone that makes small arteries narrow further.

How We Can Help With Kidney Failure

Are you or a loved one experiencing kidney problems? Is your kidney function eGFR (estimated Glomerulus Filtration Rate) below 60%, or around 15%? And are blood BUN and creatinine (chemical waste) too high while albumin (protein) is too low? Your doctor may be recommending dialysis, and you discover that the first 2 years of mortality rate for dialysis patients is 41% (according to the Clinical Journal of American Society of Nephrology).

Living a healthy lifestyle can help ensure your symptoms don’t worsen. It’s also recommended you lose weight, if necessary, exercise more, limit alcohol consumption, and quit smoking.  Likewise, a tailored nutrition plan better heals your body, addresses toxins within your environment, and builds a stronger structure on which you can repair your health.

The success of the nutritional components of your wellness plan depends on your unique body. Our nutritional test identifies food and non-food intolerances, sensitivities, deficiencies, and allergies.
