Our Patient Story

Lisa was 31 years old and had an 18-month boy when she visited our office for the first time.

She had premature labor at week 31 of her pregnancy. She bled profusely for 2 weeks and spotted for another 3 weeks. Her sleep was poor, and she lacked milk. She experienced hot flashes and night sweats, vaginal dryness, and intercourse pain.

Her period showed up 4 months after she stopped nursing, and it was scanty and only flowed lightly for 1 day and spotted 2 days. She had light periods every 2 or 3 months. Her OBGYN checked her FSH and it was high.

When we observed her tongue, it was dry and red with cracks and no coating. Her pulse was thin, fast, and wiry. We diagnosed her with liver and kidney deficiency from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and treated her with acupuncture, the Chinese herb Zuo Gui Wan, and Functional Medicine. In weeks her symptoms were relieved, and she had a period with 3 days’ good flow 5 months after our care, and it had been regular since then. She conceived 10 months after our care, carried her baby to full term and gave birth to a baby boy.
