At weMED Health, we believe that true healing encompasses the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Our integrative philosophy brings together the best of Eastern and Western medicine, and nowhere is that harmony more beautifully expressed than in the ancient practices of Tai Chi, Qigong, and Martial Arts.

About Dr. You & His Practice

Dr. You brings a rare and exceptional combination of Western medical expertise and deep Eastern movement mastery to weMED Health. As a physician with extensive training in integrative medicine, Dr. You does not simply prescribe movement — he embodies it. He practices and teaches Tai Chi, Qigong, and Martial Arts as genuine therapeutic tools, grounded in both clinical science and decades of personal practice.

His instruction is rooted in authentic traditions, ensuring that patients receive guidance that is medically informed, technically sound, and deeply meaningful. For Dr. You, these disciplines are not separate from medicine — they are medicine.

What Is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi (Taijiquan) is a Chinese internal martial art practiced for its meditative depth and extraordinary health benefits. Defined by slow, flowing movements and deliberate, rhythmic breathing, Tai Chi harmonizes the body’s vital energy — known as Qi (pronounced “chee”) — to cultivate balance, flexibility, and inner calm.

Often described as “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. Its gentle, low-impact nature makes it especially well-suited for those managing chronic illness, older adults seeking fall prevention, and anyone looking to build physical resilience while reducing stress.

Health Benefits of Tai Chi

✔Reduces stress, anxiety, and depression
✔Improves balance and coordination — significantly reducing fall risk
✔Enhances cardiovascular health and healthy circulation
✔Strengthens immune system function
✔Reduces inflammation throughout the body
✔Improves sleep quality and duration
✔Builds functional strength and flexibility without joint stress
✔Supports management of hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes
✔Promotes mental clarity and emotional resilience

Arts Practice

Traditional Martial Arts, as practiced and taught by Dr. You, are understood at weMED not through the lens of combat — but through the lens of transformation. The same principles that govern authentic martial training — precision, discipline, body-mind integration, the cultivation of inner power — are the principles that underlie all great healing traditions.

Martial arts practice develops extraordinary body awareness, mental fortitude, and the energetic sensitivity that supports whole-person health. For many weMED patients, this practice becomes a cornerstone of their long-term wellness journey — a way of moving through the world with greater strength, awareness, and vitality.

What Is Qigong?

Qigong (Chi Kung) is one of China’s oldest and most revered healing traditions, with roots stretching back thousands of years. The name itself tells the story: Qi (vital energy) + Gong (deliberate practice) — together, the intentional cultivation of life force energy. Through coordinated movement, controlled breath, and focused intention, Qigong cultivates and directs the body’s energy to support health, balance, and healing at every level.

While Tai Chi follows a specific choreographed form, Qigong encompasses a rich and varied family of practices — from still, standing meditations to dynamic flowing sequences. At weMED, Dr. You specializes in one of the most time-honored and clinically studied systems: the Eight Brocades.

Eight Brocades Motion Qigong
(Ba Duan Jin)

The Eight Brocades — Ba Duan Jin in Chinese — is a classical Qigong sequence of eight distinct movements, each designed to activate specific organ systems and energy meridians within the body. Dating to the Song Dynasty (960–1279 CE), this practice has been carefully preserved and refined across centuries. Today, it is one of the most extensively studied Qigong forms in clinical research worldwide.

Each “brocade” — or movement — gently stimulates a different dimension of the body’s energy and physiology:

✔Reduces stress, anxiety, and depression
✔Supports lung function and the Triple Burner (energy regulation)
✔Nourishes the kidneys and strengthens the lower back
✔Harmonizes the spleen and digestive system
✔Opens the heart meridian and supports cardiovascular health
✔Releases tension in the shoulders, neck, and upper back
✔Tonifies kidney energy and supports hormonal balance
✔Improves spinal flexibility and calms the nervous system
✔Consolidates overall Qi and builds lasting vitality

Clinical research consistently supports the Eight Brocades for reducing blood pressure, improving balance and flexibility, decreasing anxiety, enhancing immune function, and promoting healthy aging. It is a complete practice in itself — offering both immediate relief and long-term transformation.

The weMED Difference: Eastern Wisdom, Western Science

What distinguishes weMED’s approach is genuine integration — not Eastern or Western medicine, but both, working together in service of each individual patient.

Dr. You’s Tai Chi, Qigong, and Martial Arts instruction is deeply informed by his medical training and clinical experience. He understands, at a physiological level, how controlled breathwork activates the parasympathetic nervous system; how specific movement sequences support lymphatic circulation; how Qi cultivation practices reduce cortisol and systemic inflammation. This medical perspective allows Dr. You to customize and adapt these ancient practices to each patient’s specific health picture — making them not just beneficial, but therapeutically precise.
