Diabetes is Spreading Fast

FACT

“More than 100 million U.S. adults are now living with diabetes or prediabetes, according to a new report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on July 18, 2017. The report finds that as of 2015, 30.3 million Americans – 9.4 percent of the U.S. population have diabetes. Another 84.1 million have prediabetes.”

Diabetes treatment explained

Dr. Bing discusses Diabetes treatment in detail and shares some actual patient case studies.

Functional Medicine Therapy For Diabetes

Research has found functional medicine treatments effective for diabetes. WeMED Health and our team of doctors in Houston utilize evidence-based Eastern and Western medicine and combine regenerative medicine such as FDA regulated Functional Medicine Therapy. weMED Health has successfully helped the majority of our patients reduce diabetes levels and complications related.

Why you should try to reverse your diabetes?

  1. No. 1 cause of blindness
  2. Three times higher heart attack and stroke incidences
  3. Major causes for kidney failure and neuropathy
Insulin medications block the removal of cholesterol and increase the chance for heart attack and stroke significantly

“Our dependency on drugs without an emphasis on dietary and exercise interventions is promoting diabetic complications and premature death in millions of people all over the world.”
– British Medical Journal, 2012

Diabetes Reversed By Functional Medicine

Are you scared of diabetes, because you are having tingling and/or burning sensation in your feet, decreased vision, decreased kidney function, have had a heart attack, and are taking too many medications?

1. Medications are Necessary and Helpful

However, the Eyes, Kidneys, Heart and Nerve Damage can still occur, leading many people towards amputation, blindness, or kidney failure; unless diabetes is reversed and medications are reduced.

2. Type II Diabetes Reversed by Functional Medicine

weMED Functional Medicine Program has helped many patients reverse diabetes, most of them enjoyed freedom from diabetic complications.

3. Type I Diabetes Insulin Reducible

Insulin is essential in treating type I diabetes, yet it poses side effects, such as hypoglycemia (sometimes fatal) and increases cholesterol and triglyceride accumulation, resulting in higher heart attack and stroke incidence. The new study, led by Abel and Kevin Xiang at UC Davis, shows that too much insulin in the blood (hyperinsulinemia) contributes to heart failure by triggering a molecular chain reaction that damages heart muscle cells.

The good news is the exacerbation factors for Type I diabetes, such as autoimmune diseases or infectious toxins are minimized through our weMED Functional Medicine Program.

Does Diabetes have a cure?

Frequently Asked Questions

Can type 2 diabetes be reversed with functional medicine?

Some people with type 2 diabetes are able to lower their blood sugar and reduce how much medication they rely on through an individualized program of nutrition, movement, sleep and stress management under medical supervision. Reversal is not guaranteed. How much improvement is realistic depends on how long you have had diabetes, your remaining pancreatic function and how closely the plan is followed. weMED evaluates each patient before setting expectations.

Do I have to stop my diabetes medication to start the program?

No. Medication is not stopped when you begin. weMED works alongside your prescribing physician, and any change in dosage is a medical decision made by that physician based on your lab work and blood sugar readings over time. Never adjust or discontinue a prescription on your own.

What does weMED’s diabetes program actually involve?

It starts with diagnostic testing to identify what is driving your blood sugar. From there you receive a personalized plan built on the clinic’s five pillars — nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management and targeted supplementation — with acupuncture and other integrative therapies where appropriate. Progress is tracked with repeat lab work at follow-up visits.

How long does it take to see a change in blood sugar?

Most patients repeat lab work within the first few months, and the plan is adjusted from those results. The timeline varies with your starting A1c, how long you have had diabetes, your current medication and how consistently the plan is followed. Individual results vary.

Can type 1 diabetes be managed this way?

Type 1 diabetes requires insulin, and that does not change. An integrative program focuses on the factors that can make blood sugar harder to control — inflammation, infections, nutrient status and stress — with the goal of supporting steadier control. All insulin decisions stay with your endocrinologist.

Where can I be seen for the diabetes program?

weMED sees patients at three locations in the Houston area: Houston Central at 4126 Southwest Fwy #1130, The Woodlands at 3115 College Park Suite 106, and Cypress. You can request a consultation at any of the three.
