Osteoporosis:

Yes, We Did It!

We have successfully helped the majority of our patients reverse osteoporosis to osteopenia or even achieve normal bone density.

1. The Balance of Bone Health

Bone health depends on the balance between two types of cells:

  • Osteoclasts: These break down bone tissue and release calcium into the bloodstream.
  • Osteoblasts: These use calcium, along with support from bone stem cells, to rebuild bone.

This process is ongoing, but disruptions can lead to bone density loss over time.

2. Men and Women Are Different

After menopause, women experience a significant drop in hormones, causing bone density to decline nearly 50% faster than in men. This makes bones thinner, lighter, and more brittle, especially in the lumbar spine and hip joints, increasing the risk of fractures. Unfortunately, such fractures often mark the beginning of reduced quality of life and long-term disability.

3. Causes of Osteoporosis

According to Harvard Medical School, osteoporosis can be categorized into two types:

Primary Osteoporosis:

Caused by aging, menopause, and reduced calcium or vitamin D levels.

Secondary Osteoporosis:

Linked to medical conditions such as hyperthyroidism, kidney or liver disease, or medications like anticonvulsants, aromatase inhibitors, steroids, antidepressants, and antacids (e.g., Prilosec, Nexium).

From our East-West Medicine perspective, factors like stress, inflammation, insomnia, digestive issues, and stem cell decline also contribute significantly to osteoporosis.

4. Conventional Medication Options

Medications for osteoporosis often come with side effects:

Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva, Reclast, and others may cause digestive issues, muscle and bone pain, or damage to the liver and kidneys.

While effective for some, it carries potential risks, including an increased likelihood of certain cancers.

Contributing Factors to Osteoporosis

  • Hormonal Imbalance
  • Stem Cell Decline
  • Digestive and Nutritional Issues
  • Stress and Nervousness
  • Insomnia
  • Lack of Exercise

5. The weMED Solution

At weMED, we take a comprehensive East-West approach to reversing osteoporosis, tailoring a plan to address individual needs. Our strategy includes:

  • Evaluating and improving digestive function and hormone balance.
  • Reducing reliance on medications.
  • Recommending specific exercises to strengthen bones and muscles.
  • Utilizing regenerative cell therapy to stimulate bone regrowth.

6. Proven Results with weMED

The majority of weMED patients with osteoporosis have successfully delayed or reversed their condition, regaining bone density and improving their overall health and quality of life.

Let us help you take control of your bone health with a personalized and holistic approach.

Conventional treatments, like steroid shots and painkillers, offer 4-12 hours of relief but often require re-dosing within 24 hours. Regular use can harm the digestive lining, liver, or kidneys. While Celebrex and Vioxx are less GI toxic, the FDA warns they may increase heart attack and stroke risk.

Physical therapy strengthens muscles and ligaments to stabilize joints. Massage, acupuncture, cupping, and Chinese herbal formulas effectively reduce pain by alleviating swelling and inflammation, but none can regrow lost cartilage.
